The Face of Your Yoga Business

Do you own your yoga studio? We don't mean to ask whether or not you have financial ownership in your studio. We mean "do you own your business." Are you the public face? Do you make it a point to introduce yourself to your community—both in person and online?

We can't tell you how many studios seem to hide information about their owner(s). If you are one of these owners, you are missing a massive opportunity to connect with your students, prospective clients, and community. Here are some ideas for how to showcase yourself as the face of your studio:

(1) Personalize the "About Us" section of your website. Describe the vibe of your studio for sure, but also include information about YOU and your yoga story.

(2) Look at the camera. When we do see owners profiled on their studio's site, we often see a gumby action shot. Your clients want to connect with you as a human being. We all know that you can do yoga. We want to see your face. It can be as simple as picking up your phone and taking a selfie. You can keep the picture of you in Urdhva Dhanurasana next to the waterfall, but try and add a nice shot somewhere of you looking at the camera.

(3) Show your face in the studio. Show up and work the front desk on a regular basis -- even if it is just once or twice a month. Let the students know that you own the place and take pride in your business. If you aren't one of the studio's primary teachers, this is even more important.

It doesn't do anyone any good for you to be hiding out in the back office. Share yourself with your yoga community and see what you receive in return...
